While some keyword rank checkers claim to be the best, the most accurate, or have the largest database, the Wincher SEO rank tracker claims to be the simplest. They have focused their efforts on creating a user-friendly tool that still gets the job done. The Wincher SEO tool is more than just a rank tracker, you can also keep an eye on your competitors, generate PDF reports, and conduct keyword research. They also offer competitive pricing that’s flexible to your needs.
There’s no question that Wincher is one of the smaller brands on the market, especially when you’re comparing it to the likes of SE Ranking or SEMrush, but we wanted to find out if it can compete against them in terms of capabilities, not just the number of monthly users. We took a deep-dive and tested out the Wincher rank tracker and the other tools to produce this detailed review. You can use it to help make your decision about which of the best SEO tools on the market you should choose for your business.
If you don’t feel like reading the full review right now, no worries. You can save some time by skipping ahead to the bottom line to find out if Wincher is the right platform for you.
The first thing you’ll need to do is create an account with Wincher. This is a really simple process, you just need to add a few personal details, including the URL you want to work from, before confirming your email address. Once you’ve done this you are ready to start looking at the data. Wincher will automatically add a few keywords to your list to get you started.
There are no onboarding videos or tutorials but there is an onboarding checklist that remains on your dashboard until you’ve completed all of the steps. These steps include adding a domain, using the keyword research tool, adding 5 new keywords, highlighting three important keywords, and adding a competitor to track. Once you’ve gone through all of these, your dashboard will be looking complete and will be filled with lots of useful data.
If you get stuck at any of the steps there is a link through to the help center where you’ll find a guide on any of the topics. To find the link just hover over the numbers on the checklist and you’ll see the link appear.
Wincher’s main tool is the rank tracker which allows you to keep track of your own, and your competitors’ rankings on the SERP. However, with a Wincher subscription, you’ll also get access to other SEO tools and professional reporting that you can use to send SEO updates to your colleagues and clients to keep them up to date with the impact of your SEO campaigns. The additional tool includes a keyword research tool. Read further into the review for our breakdown on each individual tool and to find out about the pricing and support features.
You’ll find all of your ranking tracker data on the main dashboard and the first thing you’ll see at the top of the page is some overview data. It tells you the net total of the number of position changes, average position, estimated traffic, and the number of keywords in the first position.
You can select a variety of time frames to analyze, ranging from one day right through to six years. Being able to go back as far as six years is unique to this platform and can give you a real sense of progress over time. You can also filter the data by group, last position, by a web page, or keyword. Finally, there is a favorites filter that you can activate by clicking the star icon that’s next to the keyword. This will automatically add all of these keywords into one group so you can take a closer look at the keywords you care about most at the click of a button.
The next section is the keyword ranking data table itself which can show up to 800 keywords per page. The metrics shown are; best page (the URL that ranks the highest for that particular keyword), features (this shows rankings in any rich results), current position, change in position, cost per click ($), monthly volume, and finally, estimated traffic.
The Wincher dashboard is filled with visual data and you can view it full screen by clicking on the individual sections. This is great for visual learners as well as for presenting to colleagues and clients. Sometimes it takes a graph moving in the right direction for a message to sink in and Wincher makes this easy to find.
A standout feature for the Wincher platform is the competitor analysis tool. It tracks your competitor’s rankings for the same keywords you are checking and populates a table and a variety of visual graphs too. For example, there’s a graph to show the difference in average position, estimate traffic, and a position summary bar chart. The position summary chart shows the number of keywords you and your competitors have in the following positions; 1, 2-3, 4-10, 11-30, 31-100, and 100+.
Although some SEO tools offer complete custom report builders, Wincher has stuck to the theme of simplicity while still having everything you actually need. To generate a report with your own settings you’ll have to find the reporting tab on the dashboard navigation bar. From there it’s down to you what to include or not to include in the report, and to enter the email addresses that you want the report to be delivered to.
You can send out reports daily, weekly, or monthly depending on how much your colleagues and clients like to be updated and you can choose any day of the week for it to be pushed out. The time frame can be edited as well, you can include just yesterday’s data or include everything from the past six years.
There’s an option to include or remove a variety of content so that you can make sure your clients only see what they need to see. Wincher has also created a 250-word space for text at the beginning of the report so you can provide a topline summary of the report to speed things up for your time-pressured clients. Last, but certainly not least, is the ability to add in your own logo so that the reports that you send out will have your company’s name throughout.
The keyword research tool from Wincher is integrated into the ranking tool dashboard with another tab on the main navigation bar. Wincher automatically generates keywords based on your URL and the keywords you import when you first start off. They claim to generate keywords that you have a chance of ranking well for or ones that you are already ranking for.
You’ll see data for estimated traffic, search volume, competition, and cost per click. As you’re reading through the list you can add a keyword to your tracking list at the click of a button. Just hit the green ‘+ Add’ icon on the right of your screen. Finally, it’s possible to filter the keywords generated in a number of ways. For example, you can choose to only see keywords with more than a certain search volume or less than a particular competition rate.
You can try Wincher for free using the 14-day free trial. You’ll get access to all of the tools including the rank tracker (up to 100 keywords), keyword research tool, PDF reporting, multiple users, and competitor analysis. The best thing is that they don’t ask you to sign up with credit card details so there’s no commitment. You can simply get a feel for the platform and take your time in deciding if it’s right for you.
Wincher offers what they like to call dynamic pricing which allows you to create a custom subscription where the price is worked out on the number of websites you need to manage and the number of keywords you need to track.
Prices start out at €10 per month for 1 website and 100 tracked keywords. The pricing scale adds a +€3 increase for every additional website you add and the number of keywords increases too. So, for example, 2 websites cost €13 and you get 200 tracked keywords, 3 websites cost €16 and you get 300 tracked keywords and so on. The maximum amount of websites you can add is 50 which would cost you €157 with 5000 keywords.
Also, you don’t have to commit to any contract and you can cancel any time you want. The pay-as-you-go payment structure and the flexible subscription options make this a perfect platform for small businesses and entrepreneurs who only want to pay for the services they need.
The first line of support comes in the form of a help center that’s packed full of articles, advice, and answers from the experts at Wincher. You’ll find help on topics like payments, keywords, tracking & websites, exporting data, account settings, and more. You can browse through the topics or type your query into the search bar if you know exactly what you need.
If the help center doesn’t answer your questions or you just need to speak to somebody then you can get in touch via the live chat or via email at [email protected].
The support center opening hours are from 09:00 – 19:00 Monday – Friday (CET).
While it might not have the variety of tools some of the more popular brands have, as an SEO rank tracker tool, Wincher is a really good solution. You’ll get daily updated rankings data with all the key metrics presented across a stunning dashboard. In addition to the ranking tool, you’ll also get access to a keyword suggestion tool, reporting features, and a very advanced competitor tracking tool that makes spying on your competitors effortless.
If you’re looking for a downside, the biggest would be that the platform only pulls data from Google, but for lots of you, this won’t be an issue. Finally, the flexible pricing allows you to only pay for what you need and it’s easy to scale up your subscription if you need access to more keywords at a later date.
Try it for yourself now by signing up for the 14-day free trial. What have you got to lose?
