We conducted an in-depth review of the SERPWatcher tool, tested the reporting capabilities, and the rest of the tools, to provide you with a detailed review of the Mangools platform. Getting started with SERPWatcher is really simple, after inputting a few personal details and choosing the free trial or paid subscription you will be ready to start tracking keywords. There are no video tutorials or onboarding videos that immediately pop up when you first land on the dashboard, you’ll have to go looking for them. There’s a help button in the top right corner where you can find a SERPwatcher guide, Keyword research guide, a Mangools blog, an FAQ section, and lots more helpful information.

SERPWatcher is one of five professional SEO tools available with the all in one Mangools subscription. SERPWatcher enables you to keep track of your own, and your competitor’s SERP rankings, while the other tools include a KWfinder, SERPchecker (SERP analysis), LinkMiner and SiteProfiler (SEO metrics and insights). While this might not be as many tools that some of SERPWatcher’s competitors offer, it has everything you need to run a successful SEO campaign and literally costs a half the price of some of the other options. This tool from Mangools is super easy to set up and claims to have you checking your daily rankings after just 30 seconds. The SERPWatcher tool presents a variety of key metrics in a visually pleasing and easy to understand manner.
Mangools have developed their own rating or score system that they’ve called the Performance Index (PI). It measures your actual positions in the Google search results and correlates that with search volumes to give you an aggregate score. While this is in no way an official score that a search engine will use to rank your web pages, it is useful to keep track of your overall SEO performance, as your rankings go up, your exposure to potential search traffics goes up and so does your PI score.
Other key metrics that will be shown for each of your tracked keywords are current rank, change in position, average position during the time frame, best position during the time frame, search volume, and estimated visits per month based on your current ranking position.
Another cool presentation of the data is the Keyword position distribution table that shows you the percentage of your keywords that rank in 1st, 2nd – 3rd, 4th – 10th, 11th – 20th, 21st – 100th and 101st+. The top gainers and top losers table give you a quick snapshot of the best and worst performers over a given time period which you can look into further if necessary.
For those of you who love to keep things neat and tidy, you’ll be pleased to know that you can organize your keywords with tags to make it easy to look over a particular topic that you might want to pay close attention to. Finally, you are able to track rankings for desktop and mobile devices as well as over 50k locations including states, counties, cities, or DMA regions.
Reports can be made from the SERPWatcher tool with just a few clicks. You’ll need to find the reports & alerts button in the top right-hand corner of your screen and then choose your report preferences. You will be able to set up weekly reports sent out every Monday, monthly reports sent on the first of each month, and alert based reports that are triggered by rank change events. You can also enter the email address of everyone you would like to receive the report and create a custom title.
There is no custom report building tool of Mangools and no way to add your own branding to the reports which lots of its competitors do offer. However, the benefit is that you can create a scheduled report in seconds and won’t have to spend loads of time creating the perfect report, it’s already done for you!
Lots of online SEO tool brands state some big claims, but Mangools has gone further than anyone else by stating that their ‘KWFinder tool is the only keyword research tool in the universe you will ever need’. While we’re not sure if life forms outside of the earth’s atmosphere need SEO data, we can see that the KWFinder dashboard presents the keyword data in a visually pleasing manner and shows you everything you need to see.
For example, the dashboard shows you a list of related keywords, autocomplete suggestions, and questions all separated under different tags which does go beyond the standard list of related keywords that other services provide. For each of the keyword suggestions, you’ll find data on the following metrics; trend, search volume, cost-per-click, competition, PPC, and keyword difficulty. You can export all the keyword suggestion data to a CSV file at the click of a button.
It’s possible to take advantage of the keyword data for over 50k locations and find location-specific long-tail keywords and get precise data for each location. You’ll also see a SERP overview table which shows you all of the URLs that rank on page one of Google with metrics like domain authority, page authority, number of links, Facebook shares, link profile strength (a metric developed by Mangools) and estimated visits per month from a particular SERP position. There are also two metrics created by Majestic that are included in this section called citation flow and trust flow.
This tool allows you to easily analyze SERPs for any location (country or city) and any device (desktop and mobile) by looking at a range of core SEO metrics. You’ll find the exact same metrics as in the SERP overview table we mentioned when describing the elements of the KWFinder tool, such as domain authority, page authority, Facebook shares, and much more. The ability to preview SERP pages for over 50k locations around the world gives you the chance to really boost your local SEO campaigns.
It will show you the Keyword difficulty and the total number of results for that particular keyword. There is also a snapshot tab that shows you an image of the number one page from Google for that search query.
The SERPChecker tool also has the capability to calculate the impact of rich results like answer boxes, featured snippets, carousels, etc for the keyword you are looking into so you can make a judgment of how much of an impact that could have for the potential traffic to your site.
The LinkMiner tool from Mangools is the ultimate competitor research tool that gives you the power to find your competitor’s most successful backlinks, so you can try and replicate them. Mangools spotted a problem with backlink research, they noticed that you often have tens of browser tabs open which can slow your computer down and become stressful. They’ve overcome this problem by creating the ability to preview the referring website directly from the LinkMiner dashboard which makes the whole research process much more simple.
You can save all of the links that you would like to be linked from in a favorites list so you can refer back to them when you need to and never forget an important link opportunity again.
The data metrics used to measure the value of a backlink include citation flow, trust flow, number of external links, the number of Facebook shares, Alexa rank, and link strength (Mangools invention).
