Pro Rank Tracker (PRT) is a dedicated keyword rank tracker tool that launched in 2013 and has steadily been winning customers with their professional rank tracking, analysis, and reporting tools. They now support over 60,000 customers worldwide and have become one of the leading solutions for keyword rank checking.
The tool provides users with the most up to date data from all of the popular search engines and sites, including data from mobile and desktop searches as well as rich results data. In addition to collecting the SEO data, Pro Rank Tracker also enables you to analyze it and generate comprehensive, in-depth reports for your clients and team.
Lots of the other brands on the market have a full suite of SEO tools with a rank checking tool as an add on, so when we heard about Pro Rank Tracker we were really excited to find out what a dedicated rank checker tool could do. We put it to the test and typed up this review to help you decide if Pro Rank Tracker is the right solution for you and your business.
If you don’t feel like reading the full review right now, no worries. You can save some time by skipping ahead to the bottom line to find out if Pro Rank Tracker is the right platform for you.
Creating an account with Pro Rank Tracker is really easy. After you’ve entered a few personal details and you have confirmed your email address, you’ll be looking at the dashboard ready to start the next leg of your SEO project.
To help you get started, Pro Rank Tracker have created two onboarding videos to familiarize you with the software and to teach you how to set up and use the rank checker tool. There is also an ‘Add wizard’ button and an ‘Advanced add’ button that helps you set up a URL for tracking and input the search terms that you want to check.
If you’re looking for more help when you are new to the platform, hitting the question mark icon in the top navigation bar will reveal links to more help elsewhere on the website. You can head to the knowledge base, read articles on the blog, look at more video tutorials, or request some 1-on-1 training if you think it’s necessary. Pro Rank Tracker has done a great job of providing lots of material to help you learn everything you need to know to be successful on the platform.
Even though Pro Rank Tracker is a dedicated rank checker tool you get much more than just that with a monthly description. In addition to the rank tracking tool, you’ll also get a reporting center, a site audit tool, a rankings discovery tool, keyword suggestions tool, a full SERPs competitor analysis feature, and lots more. With a PRT account, you’ll be able to set up multiple users with varying levels of permissions including read-only, specific actions only, or full admin rights.
There are also two mobile apps, the first lets you check your stats and download reports when you’re on the move, while the second is a customized reporting app that can be branded with your company’s look and feel to impress your clients. Finally, with any business plan, you’ll get access to the API which you can then use to integrate into your own systems and tools.
To begin using this tool you’ll first need to input the URL and search terms you want to follow into the add Wizard. During this process is when you can choose which search engine(s) and device type you want to pull data from. After you’ve finished the setup, you can go over to the ‘URL View’ tab where you’ll be able to see all of your rankings data.
The first thing you’ll see is some quick account stats which will tell you information like the number of rank changes that have gone up, down or stayed the same over the last 24 hours, the last seven days and the last month. As well as the number of terms that rank in the top 1, 3, 10, 20, and 100 on your chosen search engine.
Underneath this section, you’ll have a list of your tracked keywords with data across some really useful metrics. These metrics include the indexed URL, search engine, language, location, ranking position, changes that day, changes that week, changes that month and some stats about local and global rankings. All of these are great, but this ranking tool is missing the search volume data for each term, as well as the estimated traffic from that position, which can help users understand the value of ranking well for particular terms.
The tool goes into great detail about what type of device the keyword is ranking for. PRT has icons for Desktop, android tablet, iPad, Windows tablet, Android phone, iPhone, and Windows phone. This is something unique to this tool and with this level of detail search engine marketer (SEMs) can really understand where their traffic is coming from.
Finally, you’ll know that when you have hundreds if not thousands of keywords to keep up with that it can become stressful. PRT has an advanced filtering system so that you can segment your keywords into different groups so that it’s easier to see what’s what.
The reporting capabilities of the Pro Rank Tracker platform is definitely one of its strong points. To start with they have powerful white-label features which allow you to completely customize the reports with your own branding so you can really impress your colleagues when you report back to your business, or wow your clients when you send them a fully branded report. There are 16 templates already set up which are split up into six categories such as overview reports, progress reports, comparison reports, benchmark reports, client reports, and automatic reports.
Once you’ve selected one of the templates and filtered the various information to include, you can then choose to draft an email, add it into a Dropbox or Drive folder, or download it straight to your desktop to send out another time, all at the click of a button.
You can generate reports in up to six languages which include, English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Dutch. This is great for freelancers or small agencies working with clients from abroad, being able to send them a report in their own language will not only impress them but make understanding the data and your analysis a whole lot easier.
With the MyRanks App, you can create a fully branded mobile app that includes your company’s details and logo to share live ranking stats with your clients and colleagues. Finally, you can also set up a ranking notification to alert you when any major changes happen so you will never miss an important moment.
In addition to the rank checker and reporting tool, Pro Rank Tracker has a powerful site audit feature. It works by sending out crawlers to crawl your website, just like a search engine bot would do, to analyze and report back any errors and potential areas for optimization.
The report will highlight all sorts of potential errors with URL details, meta tags, page optimization, HTTP status, anchor texts, duplicate content, text quality, keyword frequency, internal & external links, page speed, and much more.
The number of pages you can crawl with the site audit tool will depend on your level of subscription plan so if you have a site with lots of pages or you’re an agency that will be auditing a number of websites, make sure you check your subscription to see if you will be able to crawl everything you need.
Sometimes you can rank for keywords that were never part of the plan, it’s great right? But wouldn’t it be even better if you knew exactly what those terms were so you could track their ranking performance too?
That’s where the rankings discovery tool comes in. It will use your URL to find up to 200 short-tail and long-tail keywords that you are already ranking in the top 100 with. You can then add them to your existing rank checker list. From there you can start optimizing your site and creating new content around these keywords that you already have a head start on.
You’ll want to change your focus keywords from time to time as trends change. Luckily Pro Rank Track also includes a keyword suggestion tool within its subscription, so you’ll be able to research thousands of keyword suggestions at no extra cost.
The tool works by using your URL and tracked keywords to find up to 100 additional suggestions per tracked keyword. You can then work your way through the list and transfer any new keywords you want to focus on over to your tracked list.
Unfortunately, the keyword suggestion tool from PRT doesn’t show search volume data or how competitive it is to rank for any of the keywords that come up. Therefore, it’s quite difficult to decide on which new keywords to track because you have nothing to justify it with. You could cross-reference with another tool but that would be very time-consuming.
Pro Rank Tracker offers a 7-day free trial that grants you access to all the features so you can get a true sense of the platform and its capabilities. You will be limited to only 20 keywords for the rank tracking feature but this should be enough for you to understand whether you like the platform or not.
There are five different pricing plans to choose from which gives you a good amount of flexibility when deciding on the right subscription. There’s nothing worse than paying for more than you need and the payment structure is set up in regular intervals so it’s likely you will be paying for anything you don’t need. The prices are also very competitive when compared with other brands on the market.
The plans include Basic, Starter, Standard, Advanced, and Business. The business plan can be scaled up for businesses or agencies looking to be able to track up to 100,000 keywords, but this does come at a premium. The entry-level basic plan starts out at $25 and allows you to track up to 200 keywords, add unlimited URLs, and audit 1 website with up to 20,000 pages. With the basic subscription, you won’t be able to create sub-accounts, have access to the mobile apps or the API.
Pro Rank Tracker seems to go above and beyond with the support element to their offer, they have a knowledge base, video tutorials, 1-on-1 skype sessions, and a blog on top of the traditional email and live chat support.
The email ticket support is available 24/7 and the live chat opening times vary during the week.
Monday – Tuesday – 07:00 – 16:00 (GMT)
Wednesday – Thursday – 11:00 – 19:30 (GMT)
Friday – 06:00 – 12:00 (GMT)
Pro Rank Tracker is much more than just a rank checker tool, it also provides advanced reporting features, a powerful site audit tool, a ranking discovery tool, keyword suggestions, and lots more. The rank checker itself can show you data from Google, Yahoo, Bing, YouTube & Amazon, for any device and any location. Another standout feature is the white label mobile app that you can design with your company’s own brand to then share with your colleagues or clients so that they can see their live rankings data.
Something that lets Pro Rank Tracker down is the fact you can’t see any search volume data anywhere on the platform. However, PRT is a very affordable option and the flexible pricing plans make this a great solution for small businesses and freelancers looking for a rank checker tool.
